Aaron and I decided for our 2 year anniversary we wanted to get away. Our first pick was the beach; however, since it was quite last minute there wasn’t much to choose from. His mom and step-dad have a house in Boone (for sale if anyone’s in the market!) so we figured that’d be a nice alternative; trade the sand and ocean for some fresh mountain air and beautiful views.

You guys. I can’t tell you how stinkin’ adorable this house is. Tons of space (you’ll have to come with us next time!) nestled on the side of a mountain, surrounded by trees — it was perfect. It was smack dab in the middle of downtown Boone and Blowing Rock. Sitting on the porch, you could even hear the Tweetsie train choo-chooing through the forest.
Friday we hit the outlet stores, only making a few purchases, cruised through downtown Blowing Rock and ate dinner at Foggy Rock right near the house. Let’s talk about DELICIOUS. Saturday we stuffed ourselves happy at the good ol’ Dan’l Boone Inn. aka a southern staple. Holy yumminess. Aaron had never been so it was a must on our list.
We piddled around downtown Boone for a while, weaving in and out of old antique and consignment shops, enjoying an ice-cold soda in a glass bottle from the Mast General Store and then cruised up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We were so stuffed from breakfast we hadn’t noticed it was almost 4 o’clock and we hadn’t had lunch. What do ya do in such a sitch? HAPPY HOUR. Oh yes. A pitcher of Dos Equis Lager, a basket of chips, salsa and queso OH MY. There was only one couple sitting out of the patio with us and as soon as we sat down, the woman said “hey, you guys were at dinner last night! I recognize the baby.” He’s a stunner what can I say? We chit-chatted with them for about an hour about ev-er-y-thing. From him owning a Chic-fil-a in a Concord mall to third degree tears during child birth - you name it, we touched on it. Turns out they are looking to buy a place and eventually retire in the area. Well doggonit we have the place for you! We welcomed them over later for a fire and drinks — an open house persay. Jason and Amy were too fun and we really enjoyed spending time with them. I tell ya, Aaron and I can’t just go on vacation and spent the whole time just the two of us. On our honeymoon we made friends the second day we were there and ate almost every dinner afterwards with that couple.
The next morning we met Jason and Amy for breakfast at a local shiney diner (only the best) before cleaning, packing up and heading eastward. Little man was TUCKERED.OUT.

And so were mama and daddy. Wouldn’t you know he chose LAST NIGHT to roll from his back to tummy?

Yeah. It was all fun and games until 12:30am, 3:30am and 6am when he kept getting stuck on his side and tummy in his sleep. Oh, and did I mention he was swaddled? HEART ATTACK. So guess what. That stops TOnight. Cold turkey. RIP Geranimals swaddle. Fingers crossed he sleeps like a champ and doesn’t wake himself up too much.
So overall it was a wonderful weekend, full of beautiful weather, scenary, exploring, good food, new friends and new milestones for the mister.
